P.E.

Physical Education (P.E.) at St Mary’s Church of England Primary is an essential part of school life, helping children develop confidence, strength, coordination and teamwork. Through a balanced programme of age-appropriate activities, pupils practise a range of skills in lessons and apply them in practical, active ways. We focus on safe participation, positive attitudes and clear expectations so that every child can take part and make progress over time.

Our P.E. curriculum supports the whole child by encouraging healthy habits, resilience and enjoyment of movement. Teachers plan lessons that include opportunities for pupils to improve their fitness, learn new sports and practise fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, throwing and catching. Parents can support this by ensuring children come to school with the correct P.E. kit and appropriate footwear, and by encouraging them to talk about what they have learned and how they felt during lessons.
