Computing
At St Mary’s Church of England Primary, we believe computing should help children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence to use technology responsibly and creatively. From early experiences that build curiosity and safe online habits, to more structured learning that strengthens problem-solving and digital literacy, our curriculum is designed to be engaging, age-appropriate and relevant to everyday life. We encourage pupils to think carefully about how they use devices, communicate respectfully online and understand the importance of staying safe on the internet.
Our approach supports progression across the school so that children grow from using technology with guidance to applying skills independently. Lessons may include coding and computational thinking, using digital tools to create and present ideas, and learning how to evaluate information critically. We work closely with families to reinforce safe and responsible technology use at home, including guidance on screen time, privacy and recognising trustworthy information.
