Our School Values:
At St Mary’s Church of England Primary School, we believe and promote the importance of developing core values by which we live. These develop the children’s moral and spiritual awareness in themselves and others. As a school, we have collaborated key qualities of Christianity and British Values to create our own School Values, and the children selected the values which were of most importance to them on their journey to adulthood. These six values are integral to all our daily lives, how we teach and what our children learn. We seek to explore the meanings of their significance through weekly Acts of Worship delivered by varying staff across the school and by Reverend Claire and the ‘Story Tellers’ from St Mary’s Church.
The gifts of friendship, enjoyment, respect, honesty, forgiveness and achievement are key values that we strive to embed in children for life. Whilst these gifts are inclusive of human values and British values, we anchor them into the Christian faith by relating them to the Bible, through stories and readings delivered by our school ‘Story Tellers’ from St Mary’s Church.
Half termly, we focus on a specific value, which is discussed with class representatives at the School Ethos meetings each week. The theme is promoted through class activities, philosophy sessions and whole school assemblies.
